I feel no side effects whatsoever after taking on and off occasionally for international travel and now more regularly for stress-related insomnia and chronic pain. I sleep straight through for approximately 7 hours and awaken with no hangover, which happens with so many other meds (I can’t take Benadryl). And because of the great night’s sleep, my mood has definitely improved, as has my pain and stamina/energy level (I also don’t drink any caffeine). I take the extended dose 6.5 mg. And overall, I am very anti-drug, but at least at this point, I think Ambien CR is working for me. Would also like to research Lunesta, if anyone has any knowledge of that?

I’ve been on ambien for around 7 months, I LOVE its. I have noticed mild memory loss. It’s awful and its enough to keep me away from it. I’m currently trying to get off of it. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Peggy, I TOTALLY agree with you, I love Ambien. I have had insomnia for as long as I can remember and this is the only thing that helps me fall asleep. I wake up a bit to early and will be talking to my Dr. about Ambien CR, but even getting 5 hours of sleep per night is amazing for me! So far I am not having any side effects. So happy to be sleeping!

I have terrible insomnia. I tried melatonin and had the worst nightmares in my life. At first I though it was coincidence, so I waited a few days, and took it again, the same. The third night, the same. I mean blood curdling nightmares, where I was too scared to go to the bathroom or get a glass of water. I was like being paralyzed with fear. When the Dr. finally gave me Ambien, it was a life saver. I have had no problems at all. I take it while I am in bed already and fall asleep. No nightmares at all. So I am sold on Ambien.
