I started taking Lisinopril 10mg on 10/22/11. I’ve had severe cramping of my toes, and the pain radiates up to my mid calf muscles. This only happens at night, but it’s basically every night.
I’ve also had a dry cough.
Has anyone had this experience from using this drug?
Thank you.

I have also experienced a dry cough. I almost believe i have the beginning stages of a sore throat, do not know if its from this medication or not. I started taken it on 10/27/2011.

I cant say that i have experienced and pain in my toes or legs though.

Thank you.

Thank-you all for posting your experiences. I have been on lisinopril for 3 days and had to pull over in a parking lot this morning because I had a severe cramp on the right side of my chest and my lower back from coughing. This medicine will not see a day 4 from me.

I have been on lisinopril for about 5 years. I did have a dry cough for a few weeks but none since. My cardiologist told me that it was a side effect when he prescribed it. Always ask or look up possible side effects. Sometimes the pros are not aware of them. I did have to reduce the doseage as my pottasium levels increased. Cut dose in half, pottasium level went back to normal and BP is still okay. I am also on warfarin which is checked at least every 28 days. It does not seem to affect the lisinopril.

Thank you for the information and comments regarding the side effects of Linsinopril. I began taking this medication, November 12, 2011. Since then, I have had a persistent dry cough, that is now congestion in the lungs. I am also experiencing diarrhea, arrythimias and agitation. I thought that maybe this was a chest cold that would not go away, but after reading your article, as of today, I have discontinued the use of this drug. The only problem, is that my blood pressure is now elevated. I will contact my doctor after the holidays, and hopefully he can prescribe a different medication or a natural regimen to follow. Again, thank you.

After being on lisinopril (20mg)for only a week, cough drops were needed throughout the day to mitigate the back-of-the-throat tickling-cough that was driving me nuts. Stopped taking it, and will now try the natural remedy of losing weight and more exercise.

Anyone had their ALT/AST levels go up while on this medication. I have the persistent dry cough at night especially.

I also have been waking up or unable to get to sleep due to a nagging cough. Seems I find sitting up and sleeping on a couch makes it easier after have a cough drop to get moisture back into the mouth.

My question lies in this… Are you also on a Statin? When was the last time you did a liver panel blood test? Statin’s can negatively impact the liver but a blood test will confirm that.
