The constipation caused by morphine is unlike any other type of constipation I’ve ever experienced. I felt like I was seven months pregnant and every bowel movement was like delivering the baby.after a while I finally got on Senekot-S which gave me some relief but thank God I was able to get off morphine in my files finally come back to normal. If you ever have to take morphine I recommend starting on Senekot-S Wright in the beginning so you don’t get so bound up if you like dying. |

When I got home from the hospital yesterday, the bowel discomfort I felt was incredible. I was terribly constipated, but soon came to the realization that I did not consume any hard substances ie. food to make myself go poop. While this could be a morphine side effect that I could not go poop for two entire days after the hospital or just from not eating anything. The first time I farted 1.5 days after surgery at the hospital was a time for celebration, not to mention a thumb sized dump hours afterwards. |

My doctor put me on Sennakot-S to take 1/2 tablet with each dose of morphine I took telling me it would help avoid the inevitable constipation. It worked great as long as I took it. If I forgot for a few doses my bowels became like cement. Try Senakot-S if you have to take pain meds like morphine. |
