Prednisone gave me the worst side effects ever. I had severe anxiety followed by severe depression and only afar taking for 3 days. Telling the story to others over the past few weeks, I’ve had several people tell me horror stories about mental side effects. I really can’t believe they still use this stuff if ANY alternative exists. My neighbors daughter said she was going to kill the whole family. My work mate said his mother got so depressed they found her in the yard at night in the rain. Just story after story of bad reactions to this. Too many not be concerned. And to think they give this to dogs as well who have no way of telling us how adversely it effects them. |

hi, i dont know what to do. the doctor put me on prednisone 10mg- starting out with 6 a day for 3 days, then 4 a day for 3 days and so on. he put me on it because i had back surgery and was still in alot of pain 2 1/2 months after surgery. my back feels 90% better but im having horrible side-effects. im only 19 and dont think i should be on this stuff. this is my 2nd time being on prednisone for my back in a year. the first time i didnt have any real side-effects until after i was off of them i became very depressed but that seemed to go away after a few months. but this time around the side-effects are severe. i have horrible, scary anger, i sweat easily, im always hungry, lots of energy, from about the middle of my stomach down to my feet is very numb(my torso seems to be completely numb, and getting worse everyday) and they make me so dizzy i trip over myself while walking and iv vomited twice from being so dizzy. and I am becoming depressed again. i called the doctor and he did not say much about it other than slowly ween myself off (I am down to one a day now) but the side-effects are not receding. someone please give me some answers… I am getting pretty nervous about the numbing side-effect and anger. thanks –Brad |

Hey Brad, I was on 20 mg 3 times a day for only 3 days and have noticed I’m agitated easily, feeling wiry, and can’t sleep – just happened to come across your post. If you’re not satisfied with your doctor, I would go into your local emergency room. The side effects are something else but you will feel better! Patty |

Anyone else have this problem and if so what did you do for the pain? I only need to take for 6 more days,10 mg, 4 for 3 days,3 for 3 days, 2 for 3 days and 1 for 3 days, but doctor told me not to take OTC pain medicines because it will tear up my stomach.. any suggestions?? thanks in advance. |

I was given prednisone after having a bad asthma attack. I was prescribed it for 7 days but by the third day I was so dizzy that I made an appointment to go back to the doctors. I was told to keep taking it until the 5th day (which was yesterday) but today I am still feeling very heavy and dizzy. I hope I never have to take prednisone again! |

I just started taking prednisone Dec 22 and I can feel a difference. I am taking it for sinus infection. I take it through the 26th. I was willing to try anything to help this sinus crap. |

Have you been tested for Wegener’s Granulamatosis. I was recently diagnosed with that auto-immune/vasculitis disease. It took months to diagnose but I had ear infections, crusting in my sinuses, chronic cough, double vision, compromised airway, etc. I finally got to a doctor who knew what he was doing. |

OK, this is the worst meds i have taken for some time, I think its the only med that i really did have side effects from right away., All of them at once, pissed off, sick to my stomach, peeing out my butt, you name it, i had it. Now my Dr said to take 3 pills all at the same time once a day for 7 days, i stopped after 3!!! The thing is i had the same problem once before with my breathing, had to take a antibiotic and pain meds and it was gone, this time different Dr at the ER and this is what he gave me after i told him that i already been threw this problem and i know what i need. NOPE!!! I think they just do what they think they should do and never listen to the patient,,, Don’t take this meds unless your ready for some kind of side effect. |

I have alot of continuing constant pain in my entire body. I am always edgie and my anxiety levels elevate to a very high level when I am stressed out especially over routine problems. My back, legs, and shoulders hurt always often to the levels that I am chronically fatigued, and get weak. I have acute juvenile diabetese mellitus since I was 8. Now I am 39. I have all the common complications with my disease. Except kidney, vision problems. I have taken all kinds of various types of pain, neurological, antidepressants, and over counter n-saids. I am on day four of my dosage cycle which tapers. So far my experience has been wonderful! My GERD, acid reflux, swallowing disorder, fatigue, healing issues(lesions, ulceration, etc.) are healing finally and I have an insulin pump am a carb counter, and a A1C of 5.9 to 6.0 but do experience hypertension and ringing in my ears with no weight gain. Don\’t go to restroom but once to three times daily and am never dehydrated. Have had all my blood profiles routinially done. Even CBC\’s and urine proteins and ketones checked and they are never more than .05 perc. or less! I am 6\’1\” and 202 lbs. never felt to be obese even a cholesterol level of 134. But produce high level of the acids when I am physical in anyway and only can continue on for a short jaunt unless I get mad as hell or just upset. I always felt my cortisol levels were low when very slightest changes in my environment drains me and has now stopped! I know it\’s a good and grateful feeling. Thank GOD for his diverseties and his greatness in medical science to try anything it has been a long wait my fellow friends may he always bless you and keep you in your journey for faith! My shoulders and back are getting better! My sores are healing O; I think I referenced that already. Steroids my ass!!!! I\’m into cheap thrills for I am not a muscle dummy I am a pain hater. I do not like pain pilling at all it is no pleasure of mine! Well may luck find you! Getting relief and man I are grateful! Thanks Dr. Allen and Dr. Shuart of Blackwell, OK Americas most contaminated spot in our beloved country! Almost an 80 on the CIRCLA and government superfund site and I am born and lived here! Well don\’t ever let anyone tell you that minerals are good for the human body because only what you need is good! Not to eat, breathe, play, shit, walk, talk, sleep, drink, and take baths in it. Well it is home but do you think we all sacrifice indirectly for the war machine in some way. Blackwell is what I have for home and I wish I could be in the military but I was junk before I ever was and junk is not very reliable. But cortisteroids are atleast we all who have taken them have some type of experience with them. Wished some could of had such an experience. I am back to going to the restroom 6 to 12 time daily! But do watch your blood sugar levels and check the frequently!!! |
