I have taken Tramadol HCL 50mg for a year with little help. The Veterans Hospital (PA) has increased my dose amount to 100mg three times a day. I now can’t sleep and have the jitters; not the shakes. I also have that funny tastes in my mouth. I am in pain every minute of everyday since my Military Accident. Is there another “MED” that would allow me Sleep and no Jitters and help with my pain. Sincerely proud to be an Severice Connect Navy Veteran, Bill. |

Bill, First of all Thank You for your service, I am so sorry that you are in pain and not getting the relief you need and deserve. You did not state your “cause” of pain… is it spinal related or from a head injury? I am sure that your doctors are the best ones to answer your questions regarding pain relief. I strongly suggest that if you’re not getting the attention from them that you seek, then change doctors and get another opinion. If I were you, I would inquire about a medication that is used as a sleep aide as well that would replace your current pain meds; although most pain medications have the tendency to help you sleep by just eliminating the pain, they also tend to slow breathing and affect your respiratory system. You may want to ask your doctors to consider giving you Klonopin as an ALTERNATIVE to the Tramadol as in my UNPROFESSIONAL opinion and past experience with it, it aides in sleep, helps the nervous system to relax and also has pain relieving properties. I hesitate on suggesting since I do not know your condition… please consult with your doctors. By the way, both of these medications (Tramadol and Klonopin) are habit forming and he/she may hesitate on prescribing for that reason. I hope you feel better soon. |
